I'm Antoine Jeanselme, a backend engineer based in Paris. For 4 years I've designed backend services and high-availability architectures in Java, TypeScript and Spring, alongside Kotlin, Python and Go, plus the cloud and DevOps side that ships and runs them: CI/CD, Kubernetes, Terraform.
## first steps
My love for building things on a computer started when I was 14. I was playing Minecraft and wanted my own server, so I learned how to set up a Linux box, use SSH, and install and configure the server myself.
I was hooked. Online courses, tutorials and my own projects took me into backend engineering, web development and game development. That server grew into ShadowAxe, a community of 30,000+ registered players. Through it I made lifelong friends, learned how to run a company, and found what I want to do: build things people love.
## work
At Parallel Studio I was the backend & DevOps engineer on Under The Waves. I designed the CI/CD tools and pipelines (Jenkins, Docker, Azure; Python, Go, C#/.NET) that automated deploys for 30+ developers, built the multiplatform delivery pipelines, and ran the production infrastructure: Linux servers, network, storage and backups. The game shipped in 2023 and sold 2M+ copies.
Then I went back to my roots with Shadow Studio. I designed the platform's backend architecture and REST APIs, deployed across cloud and on-premise, and kept it highly available as it grew to 30,000+ unique users. As an entrepreneurial project it also meant recruiting and managing 3 developers and making architecture calls that balance product and tech.
## today
Shadow Studio is becoming a side project again, and I'm looking for my next backend role. In the meantime I contribute to open source (Better Auth, Zerobyte) and run a Kubernetes homelab to experiment with infrastructure as code, GitOps and cloud-native architectures.
## education
Master's in software engineering, backend & developer tools major — Pôle Léonard de Vinci, Paris La Défense (2019 — 2024). I was lead developer on student teams of 3 to 15 and organised a week-long online game dev conference with 60 talks and 4,000+ attendees.
